ninemillion.org in the field

Azerbaijan, Uganda and Thailand were selected to take part in the preparation and launch of the Ninemillion.org campaign in 2006. All three countries received each US$50,000 to implement sport and education projects.

In Azerbaijan ninemillion.org is increasing the quality of physical education programs, promoting access to sport and recreational activities, promoting girls’ enrolment and retention in schools.

In Thailand we have constructed a computer center, including computer training, as well as play and learning spaces

In Uganda, by purchasing scholastic materials we are improving school conditions, especially for girls.

The funds donated through the Ninemillion.org campaign are allocated to country operations where the needs for education and sports activities are more acute, where the number of child girls in school is particularly low, and in countries where there are few education opportunities. In 2007, additional programmes funded by Ninemillion.org will be implemented in Uganda, Kenya, and Liberia.

Education and sports programmes in Chad and in Congo are awaiting more funds from the ninemillion.org campaign.
