Maung Tin
Ninemillion.org received a private donation of US$432,125.64 from Maung Tin, a Burmese native. Mr. Tin left a bequest for his money to be channeled to UNHCR and it was his employer who contacted the UN Foundation for assistance in fulfilling Mr. Tin's final wishes. UNHCR is extremely grateful for this extraordinary donation, which will be allocated to education and sport programmes for refugee children living in refugee camps.

Award - Nike earns top honors for creating the communications behind ninemillion.org.
PR News, the leading publication covering the public relations trade, awarded Nike its highest honor in Philanthropy Communications at its first Corporate Social Responsibility Awards for Nike's role as a founding partner in the ninemillion.org campaign.
Nike's involvement in the campaign grew out of years of work with refugee communities and also as a founding member of UNHCR's Business Leaders Council. Nike produced 40,000 high-performance balls with environmentally preferred materials for UNHCR to distribute refugee camps, developed the creative content for the campaign, produced ninemillion.org T-shirts to help raise awareness and funds, and devoted retail space to the ninemillion.org. In addition, Nike helped the campaign's PR efforts at the launch and also brought in significant free advertising for the campaign's public service announcement featuring Ronaldo and children from refugee communities in Azerbaijan, Uganda and Thailand.
Winners were awarded in a dozen categories critical to CSR success, from Branding to Employee Communications to Community Relations. Last week's ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. included honorable mentions that brought to 41 the total number of organizations acknowledged for their social responsibility work.
Ninemillion.org, which launched on June 20, 2006 (World Refugee Day), has raised over US$2 million to support education and sport programs for refugee youth around the world, attracting more than 2.3 million visitors to its website.

A total of US$ 4,884.00 was collected through the auction! We would like to thank Men’s Vogue for this great initiative and their ongoing support.

Petta Technology
We thank Petta Technology for creating web widgets for ninemillion.org free of charge!
Widgets are little, web-hosted, software programs that serve content (data, pictures, sound, video) from a host site. They are small ambassadors of a larger site or brand and can be placed on any web page such as a social networking page or blog site to promote awareness and facilitate interaction.
The first ninemillion widget, the "Add Your Voice" counter widget, can be obtained from: http://www.yowidget.com/clients/ninemillion/counter-demo.html
You can also get the code for your own widget from another widget by clicking the "Get Widget" button on the widget.

Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars
Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars are primed to considerably raise their profile on at least three separate continents in the coming months.
The band recently collaborated with Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Steven Tyler on a cover of John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance" for inclusion on an Amnesty International / Darfur compilation. The project features major stars including, among others, REM, Christina Aguilera, Lenny Kravitz, Willie Nelson and U2 covering John Lennon songs in their own styles (with Yoko Ono's blessings and involvement). Speaking of U2, Joe Perry also joined Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars (SLRAS) on a recording of U2's "Seconds" for a benefit compilation that features African artists performing U2 covers. Both compilations for humanitarian causes are set for release in late spring or early summer. On a side note, during the World Economic Forum, Bono was leaving the Belvedere Hotel in Davos as SLRAS were arriving to perform at the Manpower sponsored ninemillion.org event when the band's manager snagged Bono and introduced the band to him with Bono exclaiming "my brothers".
The documentary film, "Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars", is confirmed to begin airing on PBS in the U.S. on June 26, 2007. Prior to broadcast, the film will be showing in select theatres in the US as well.
The band made their debut tour of Australia playing coast to coast festivals with the likes of Dave Matthews, Ben Harper and Bonnie Raitt, as well as headlin ing their own shows in Melbourne and Sydney. Their debut CD "Living Like A Refugee" was released in Australia and New Zealand by ABC Music on March 24, 2007.
Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars plan to tour the U.S. and Europe throughout the summer including performances at the Hollywood Bowl and major festivals on both continents, which are still being confirmed at this time.
